  • PACS and the ALICE Training Institute bring active shooter training to Pittsburgh

The Passport Academy Charter School (PACS) Brings Active Shooter Training to Pittsburgh March 12–13, 2019 at PACS, 510 Heldman Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15219.

Passport Academy Charter School and the ALICE Training Institute teamed up to bring ALICE Training Instructor Certification to Pittsburgh, PA on March 12 and 13 of this year. The course was held at the Passport Academy Charter School in Pittsburgh where over 50 participants from around the Pittsburgh area, in addition to people from other parts of Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, and Louisiana were in attendance. Several school districts were represented as well as several law enforcement agencies, hospitals, and public institutions.

This two-day instructor course is designed to teach proactive survival strategies for violent intruder or active shooter incidents. The goal of the ALICE program is to provide people with survival-enhancing options for those critical moments in the gap between the onset of a violent situation and when law enforcement arrives on the scene.

ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate and is a comprehensive, commonsense strategy law enforcement and citizens can employ in various situations and settings: schools, universities, hospitals, businesses, and places of worship. Completing the ALICE Training Instructor Certification course provides individuals with certification in ALICE and allows them the opportunity to bring the strategies back to their places of work. Additionally, registrants will gain access to exclusive ALICE resources.

ALICE is in line with recommendations from the Department of Justice, Department of Homeland Security, Department of Health and Human Services, Federal Emergency Management Agency, White House, Department of Education, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and some Federal and State agencies.
